Lisa Suttora's WhatDoISell Review

The name "Lisa Suttora" initially was introduced to me at a time just after I started my own product sourcing efforts with the purchase of Worldwide Brands (at the time their "Dropship Directory" product, which is now called OneSource). I really liked what Worldwide Brands was all about and went digging for more information. I found a book that was co-written by Chris Malta (founder of Worldwide Brands) and Lisa Suttora called What to Sell on eBay and Where to Get It (you can check this book out on Amazon.com by clicking here).

So naturally, I bought the book (and loved it!) and decided to learn a little bit more about Lisa Suttora. After very little searching, I found Lisa practically everywhere that relates to product sourcing, product trending and eBay training and strategy.


Essentially, Lisa knows her stuff and is one of the most respected educators in online business. In fact, she has created her own training site called WhatDoISell.com. A little bit of trivial history about WhatDoISell and Lisa...

For many years before her online career, Lisa was a professional buyer, product sourcer, and trendologist. Like many of us (including myself), she was tired of the corporate world and took that leap of faith into creating her own business off-line as a product sourcing consultant. In the early 2000's, there was a heavy desire for this type of information in the internet world which naturally resulted in Lisa forming her own teaching program called "WhatDoISell" which was basically about solving the common question of "What do I Sell?" (and where to find these products).

The site was well received and Lisa's status as a top product sourcing expert and trendologist grew. But of course, this information niche overlapped greatly with the education needed to support eCommerce online, and more particularly, eBay. As a byproduct of her sourcing ability and work-at-home career, Lisa also created and managed quite a successful business and career out of selling on eBay (so much so that eBay has been personally inviting Lisa to speak at eBay Live! events since 2004).

This vast knowledge of eBay powerselling easily integrated well into her WhatDoISell product. Her focus is still on product sourcing and product trending, but WhatDoISell extends beyond this into the basics of eBay (and eCommerce, in general), to creating a planning a sustainable online business, to developing both traditional (and sometimes novel) marketing strategies to growing your business, to keeping up with the current eCommerce and product sourcing environment.

So What is "WhatDoISell?"

This is a membership site that is dripping with valuable information. A lot of her content is in the form of quick-and-simple to follow articles that will detail what you need to do to start, plan, develop, strategize and grow your online business. In addition to her articles, she has hundreds of hours of archived webinars focusing on everything from improving your eBay business to finding the best products for the holidays. These webinars continue on a monthly basis and Lisa also maintains an up-to-date blog informing her clients of the latest news in the industry (and that is on top of the ever-growing article database that is updated and added to regularly). The forum is huge and a great place to ask your own personal questions to the WhatDoISell Community.


And understand that the WhatDoISell Community is filled with established, full-time eBay powersellers (about 20% of her clients, in fact!). An additional 40% of her clients successfully make money part time online. So you will find yourself with plenty of experts and on-going resources.


So Who is WhatDoISell For?

Virtually anyone at any stage in their online career (newbies to professionals). As a product sourcing/trending product, this one is different from products like Worldwide Brands or Doba. She doesn't really provide you with a list of suppliers to contact (there is a Suppliers Hub within WhatDoISell, but it is rather limited), rather she teaches you how to find the best products from the best suppliers yourself (instead of going to the fish market, she's giving you a fishing pole and showing you how to fish!).

As an eBay product, WhatDoISell goes through the step-by-step details of starting your eBay business from scratch all the way to becoming an eBay powerseller.

For others, such as eStore owners, affiliate marketers, adsense site owners, etc., WhatDoISell still tackles many of the issues surrounding any type of online business such as planning, business development, trending, website optimization, legal matters, and so much more.

OK, so what are its faults...

Well, the site is chock full of information but aesthetically kind of boring and not necessarily easy to navigate. I can definitely find what I am looking for, but it is rather out-of-date looking. (The content is always fresh, though...as an educator, you sometimes get caught up in your content and forget about the other important things like the actual website...trust me, I know! I'm one of them!)

I don't know if this is a fault, but at $19.97/month this product is way under-priced. I think that some of you may veer away from it because you feel at a price like this that there won't be much. This is so far from the truth, though.

In summary, I think this is one of the best training programs currently on the web. (It reminds me a lot of my own NetWebVideo, except it covers topics such as product sourcing, trending, and eBay). I think you will find a lot of comradery and support within the site and you'll be pressed to find anyone that is truly disappointed in this product. For some, this may be an alternative to a standard dropshipping/wholesale product like Worldwide Brands or Doba. For others, this may be a great compliment to these directories. In any case, it is definitely worth a look for anyone doing business online (and at only $19.97/month, the risk is virtually zero).
