The reason was obvious: it was perhaps the largest growing medium in ALL media! YouTube was blowing up and people were preferring to watch videos than read articles, web pages, and even blogs. I was scared, I gotta admit! I was NOT an actor and I had NO experience whatsoever in being in front of a camera. Also, I feel that I am a pretty "mellow" guy and don't do too many outlandish things. You know what I am talking about! Those YouTube videos you see having people doing crazy stuff and crazy brings attention! Who will want to watch boring old me, anyway? After a year, I received well over 10,000 views. (See below) Now some are saying: WOW!, that's awesome and others are saying: THAT'S NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE. And both are right. There are people that get 100,000 views, and even > 1,000,000 views for one video. So what's the deal? First, my videos are mostly educational and don't have the viral effect that a dog smoking cigarettes does. Again, I may not be super entertaining, but I am informative! Second, I know that as a practicing internet marketing I can monetize on these 10,000 views much better than 99% of those already on YouTube. Therefore, these views have more value from a marketing standpoint than 1,000,000 views of the dog video. (Note: Moffatt talks about ways of using these viral "Dog videos" in Easy Video Profits!) My point here is this: You don't need to be a video junkie or a movie actor or a guy who jumps off of buildings to be effective online. "If you build it [videos], they will come" And in a lot of cases, you don't need to be in front of a camera, either. I started with Camtasia videos (which are screen captured videos where I just talk about things I am doing online). There are also utilities (included in tools like Traffic Geyser) that will record your voice on a phone call and then integrate it into a slide show using their own software. And still, there are methods of using OTHER PEOPLE'S VIDEOS to add content to your own blog, website, and as I hinted above with Easy Video Sales, make money directly from the viral videos already produced. Below I provide a list of some of the resources that I have used to produce a solid, video marketing empire among my own websites. Believe it or not, but the toughest hurdle is getting through that first video. Once that is done, it is REALLY EASY. (And is faster and more effective than sitting down and writing a 500 word article or blog post, too!) |
