| User Review: I started using Elance after I read Tim Ferris' book, the Four Hour Work Week. I was just starting out in a new business venture on my own and wanted to find a flexible workforce that would both allow me to concentrate on the work that made me money and that I enjoyed, while at the same time be able to grow the business quickly, without hiring expensive staff, opening an office right away, stuff like that.
I put several simple projects on Elance to start with. Lots of admin work. I chose three providers for each project so that I could evaluate more than one person/group on the same project. I quickly found one firm that not only did my admin projects well, quickly and inexpensively, but they also were able to have a nice mocha delivered to my house each morning. I think they were showing off, but they did win my business.
I also found another provider that performs lots of development work for me. They have built three web applications for myself and my partner and have become trusted partners of my companies.
The admin providers and I have built a very strong relationships over the more than two years I have worked with them. They continually do more for me and have truly become part of our team.
I love the ease of which you can post jobs, monitor progress, receive and send invoices, review work, and review providers.
The project signup process is easy and the bidding provides you with solid providers with detailed information about each one.
Using Elance also protects my business. If a provider I use outside of Elance messes up, or just does horrible work, I have little recourse. If the providers inside of Elance do the same, i can contact Elance and provide a negative review. This motivates the providers on Elance to make sure they do a good job.
Overall, it has been a wonderful experience. Having Elance on my team during the first few years of my business has allowed me to grow my business dramatically while at the same time keeping costs low. We now have almost ten employees in our office and still an extensive team of providers through Elance.
I would definitely try them out right away. |

| User Review: I've used Elance to design over 60 websites both brochure and database driven, logos, and print media. The quality and price of international designers is hard to beat. I use Elance for any web or graphic design work I need and will continue to use the service to connect to talent. |

| User Review: Elance is a joke if you are looking to provide quality work (and get anything close to a fair wage).
For buyers it's even worse. The whole site is chalk full of low-quality providers with glowing resumes and feedback. The thing is the providers make multiple accounts and "trade" projects within the accounts for that very feedback.
Elance turns a blind eye so they can collect their service fees.
Their escrow isn't a real escrow system, the website itself has errors all the time and if you are looking for any type of customer service or support you get a phone answering machine and an email support service that never returns emails.
Elance is by far the worst freelancing site I have ever had the misfortune of working with.
If you ever think of checking it out be sure and READ their 800 page terms of service statement. They are not responsible for ANYTHING. They can come back and take money you made months ago if they want (and they have citing problems and fraud)...even though their system is supposed to prevent these things.
Elance is a joke and a horrible affront to decent business practices. |

About TheWebReviewer Reviews...
I originally started TheWebReviewer back in the middle of 2006. This was at a time when I was exploring all of the different options of making money online and trying to understand the online tools that could save me time and money while growing my online presence. I have tried a lot of them, too. It was only natural for me to take my experiences (successes and failures) and turn them into TheWebReviewer.
Now understand, like most review websites online, there is both an inherent bias and monetization factor involved with providing an opinion. For many of the products on this website, I will be compensated as a referrer for this product. The effort and longetivity of this site and the services it provides has been largely due to this sponsership.
For years, I have tried my hardest to make my reviews as detailed and "real" using my own experiences (many captured in video or screenshots). I do work with many of these companies to help provide my visitors with added discounts, bonuses, coupons and more for purchasing their products.
I also include a User Review section, place for any visitor to write their own experiences with the product or company. These reviews are moderated, but I will generally accept any comment, good or bad, as long as it is thought out, not spam, and not hateful.
Many of the reviews on TheWebReviewer are usually positive. I do this for two reasons: 1) I do like to share the tools that I use the most and the ones that I can provide the most thorough evaluation. 2) I have posted negative reviews in the past, which have resulted in malicious attacks or formal (frivolous) lawsuits. I am a one-man show here and frankly do not have the resources to fight these attacks. Therefore, I usually stick with the products that I currently use, have used in the past, or feel can help other people online. For negative user reviews, I usually contact the companies for their rebuttal. It is their discretion whether they wish to address it or not on my website.
