Live Chime Review
How Live Chime Compares...
I recently got a call from a fairly well-respected internet marketing friend of mine. We were talking about some old campaigns we ran together and then in conversion, he mentioned to me how he was trying to sell a house on craigslist and that we was having tremendous interest because of this "Live Chat" link that he added to his listing.
I was intrigued.
Personally, I have never used live chats on my websites for a few simple reasons:
1) Most are costly
2) They can be a pain-in-the-you-know-what to set up
3) Who is going to man it?
But this was different...It was just a link. So how did it work?
The company is called LiveChime and I quickly went to try it out. Price-wise, it was $99/year (with a 30-day money back guarantee). For $8.25/month and the possibility to cancel and refund quickly made the price seem trivial.
From the time of purchase, it took me approximately 4 minutes to have a active, LiveChime link ready. I already had a "Chat Live" link in my bag of images and within another 5 minutes, had an active "CHAT LIVE" button on my blog (which I inserted using a simple Wordpress Text Widget).
That was as about as technical as it got.
From there, it was ready! When someone clicks on the link, a chat window opens at the top of your page. If you are currently logged into your LiveChime account, a message will appear on your computer. If you are not logged in, an email will be sent immediately to you. If you are away from your desk, the free iPhone, Blackberry, or PrePalm applications can notify you immediately. (You can chat using these applications as well).
But what if you are not available to answer the chat? After 60 seconds, the LiveChime window will tell the user that you are not available and provides them with space to leave a message (which is also reported to you via the portal, email or Smart Phone).
That is how it works. It really doesn't have many more bells and whistles, but frankly, most of us want this to be simple.
As an internet marketer, this is a GREAT way of increasing the conversions on my page by providing more trust and support to my visitors, and it is dirt cheap. They do offer a way of adding an identifier to the links, too. This allows me to manage multiple websites under one-account.
But getting back to the original call...you can use this yourself, too, on places like craigslist. The chat link is very private yet provides you with a simple way communicating with your leads and potential buyers. (I could see this being HUGE for real estate agents, too).
Right now, I'm using LiveChime on my blog (over at Inside the Internet Marketing Mind). Don't worry, you probably won't be innondated with chat requests, but the ones who do use it usually result in amazing conversions and sales. Is that worth $8.25 per month?
This is probably the easiest and most affordable ways of adding Live Chat to your website (and then some!)
