Detailed PRWeb Review
When I first started my online career, everyone told me that I should write a press release. The thought of writing "news" and sending it to a formal syndication firm sounded rather intimidating. After a few month (and a bit more confidence of making money online), I gave it a shot. At the time, everyone recommended PRWeb and that is what I did.
That was over 2 years ago and to this day, I still use PRWeb for a majority of my Press Releases. Why? Because it is very simple, yet very powerful! There are a few things that are important in distribution:
1. Where is your press release going to be syndicated?
One place that is important to me (because they seem to dominate much of the news space) is Yahoo News. Google is great for News, but I still think that Yahoo is better and not everyone syndicates here. (PRWeb DOES!) Then there are the major wire services like the Associated Press. Other ones of importance (but are not limited to) include Web.com, NetVibes, BusinessWire and Topix.
2. Quality!
There is a quality standard that must be met with all PRWeb submissions. There are human editors that rates all submissions to make sure that your news release will be not tarnished by other, spam-like releases. (Many "free services" have very little quality control.)
3. Professional Writing and Editing Services
If submission denial is a concern of yours (which it shouldn't be...as long as you write a press release in a standard format about something newsworthy), you can also hire writing and editing services through PRWeb which are rather cost effective and simple to instigate.
4. Distribution Options
Starting from $80, you can have a professional submission of your press release to many of the main news wires, media outlets and news websites on the internet. I have used this service for years and found it to result in high traffic spikes while aiding in the SEO development of my website. Still, you can upgrade your syndication status and writing preference to include videos, pictures, backlinks (with anchor text!) and more.
How do these prices compare? Well, they are not the cheapest, but they are not the most expensive, either. I think the price is pretty fair, though. Below are the Full Page Read statistics for a couple of $80 press releases through PR Web (yes, you receive a whole lot of statistics from PR Web for each of your submissions!):
Note that this equates to roughly $0.11/read. Not many of us can get over 700 clicks at $0.11/click on Google Adwords! Plus, you still receive all of the benefits from backlinks (and SEO). Notice that a search of the term "TheWebReviewer" results in three of the top 10 results being press releases:
For the more expensive services (like the $200 SEO Visibility package), you can choose your own anchor text and links within the body of the article.
I have tried a number of services both cheaper and more expensive and I find myself returning to PRWeb on a regular basis. I find that PRWeb is the best value for all-around effectiveness of the press release versus the price. Still, PRWeb may not be optimal for every niche. I recommend it as a good starting point for most beginning online marketers. Once you become confident with your press release writing and syndication, it may be time to try other agencies to test and see what is best for YOU!
