When I was struggling to find a solution to my Google Adwords issues, I went to the forums and asked for advice. I cannot tell you how many people referred me to Perry Marshall's Definitive Guide to Google Adwords. This was well over a year ago. And I remember when I first read it, I thought: A lot of this is common sense.but then again, why wasn't I doing this stuff? And yes, Perry does make Google Adwords seem like "common sense". The book does not go too much into the basic details (like how to login, how to create an account, etc.), but he does go over how to create your campaigns right. I am not kidding.I had CTR's less than 1% and I was not making any money whatsoever. I started applying a few of his strategies and sure enough, CTR's started to rise and sales did start coming in. And realize that this book is not about gimmicks or tricks. It is about good, solid strategy that most of us overlook when creating Adwords Campaigns.

The Definitive Guide to Adwords is about business and marketing and that is its biggest strength. Perry takes classical marketing techniques and applies them to Adwords. That is it! And it works! Such things include:

• How to write effective ads
• How to test effective ads
• How to test effective keywords
• Grouping your keywords and ads for maximum effectiveness
• How to apply Google's platform into a business platform

Yes, the concept seem simple, but I guarantee most of us completely overlook it. Remember that Google Adwords is about business, marketing, and advertising. Google wants to provide the best product to its clients (which are the search engine visitors) and in doing so it will create a program that support good, solid fundamental business practice. That is what this book is about and now, over a year later, the methods that I originally read about still work as strong as ever and I have not found myself suffering the pains that many others have endured during the Adwords program changes over the last year.

There are no big tricks in the The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords. This is not going to tell you what markets to sell in or which keywords are best. This is not a tutorial on setting up Google Adwords, either. This is about applying old fashion marketing theory into the modern age of Pay-Per-Click.
