Detailed GoDaddy Domain Buying Review Review
I'll be honest, this is the only review that I have created for places to buy domains, because basically, there has been no need to go any further. When I first started online, everyone told me just to go to GoDaddy to buy your domain names. Since then, I have not stopped!
Buying a domain should be easy, and GoDaddy does this well. Sure, their buying process is littered with upsells and tricks to convince you to buy more, but I kind of respect that (being a businessman myself). The prices are extremely competitive. You probably can search around and find something that would be about a dollar or two cheaper per year, but the reliability and ease of domain management is worth that extra dollar per year.
A standard ".com" or ".net" costs about $10/year. The do offer promotional savings at time, and usually offer much reduced prices for less used domains (such as ".info" and ".biz" for as little as $1.99). Godaddy does offer hosting packages with their domains, which is not bad and recommended for those just starting off in the website development world. These days, I usually host with them when testing a market and then migrate the site to a bigger hosting company. I never have had problems moving my site from GoDaddy Hosting. Its DNS forwarding (i.e., the location when your website files live) is very quick and extremely easy to manage.
On average, I buy about 1 domain per week and I continue to buy everything through GoDaddy. I can manage them all in one simple account and their auto-renewing updates keeps me current on which domains need renewing and which ones I plan to drop.
All-in-all, I could not be happier with GoDaddy for buying domains:
There prices are competitive.
The domain management is simple.
The customer support is always superb.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
