I call this section "kind-of" free stuff, because the products and the courses that are offered in this section are just that..."kind of free".

Let me explain...

First of all, this is SO 2008. And we really haven't seen anything quite like this before in online marketing. For most of these offers, this is what happens...

In most cases, you will sign up a product or offer that is either free or requires you to pay just the shipping and handling of a product. These products are then electronically delivered to you or sent to you in the mail...

BUT READ THE FINE PRINT!

In MOST of these cases, you will be enrolled in some kind of recurring membership. Now, you might think this is sneaky (and for some of these kind of offers, it is). For other offers, though, they state this quite boldly before signing up. If they are not afraid to tell you about the sign-up, it is usually pretty legitimate (especially since most of these kind of offers will give you a one month free trial of the recurring membership program, which you can cancel before your first payment).

How Can They Do This?

So, of course, the natural question is: "Why are they selling me this product if they are not making any money from it?". The answer is two-fold:

They will recoup a lot of their expense from those who choose to stay with the membership program (and most of these offer quite good recurring membership programs, too. I recommend that you test out their trial month membership and see if you like it yourself.
They provide this great information at a financial loss to them essentially to try to win your loyalty as a future customer. (And fair enough!)

I have done this with a number of programs and the ones listed below all fulfilled these requirements. (That is, they did enroll me in the membership WITH my knowledge and I was able to successfully cancel out of them with no trouble prior to my first recurring payment).

And it many of these cases, the materials I have received (for my $8 or so shipping and handling fees) have been nothing but GREAT. Most of these included shipped handbooks, posters, DVDs, CD-ROMs, blueprints and more. Some of the BEST content I have read in 2008 have come from these types of offers (and personally, I enjoy receiving a nice package in the mail, too).

But again, let me warn you once again: Know what you are buying and be aware of future recurring membership fees. And if you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised at some of the remarkable content you will receive (at only a fraction of the cost of everything else!).
