Detailed eTicket Review

Did you know that this cost me ZERO dollars to create?
Now before I continue, I thought I will let you know WHY I have a help desk. Personally, I don't mind receiving emails from visitors, but over the years (as the site has grown and the "robots" have become smarter) I found that I was receiving about 300 junk emails to 1 real email per day in my help email. Real emails were getting lost and the junk filters were not able to distinguish the too. This hurt my interaction with my visitors.
I know, a help desk seems pretty informal, but it assures that "real" emails get to me and many of the artifical or "bot" emails don't even get through the system.
I created http://www.tru-support.com using an open source application called eTicket. It is a PHP application (aka, it must run on a Linux server). For the user, it is very simple to understand (and it includes several types of CAPTCHA codes...you know, there weird letters that you need to type in to prove you are human!). This helps ween out a LOT of the spam and robot email.
In the "background" or admin, tickets can be viewed, opened, and managed similar to a general email system. Plus, you can have it email your NORMAL email address when a new ticket arrives.
Goodbye SPAM. Hello organization.
And like I just mentioned, be able to communicate effectively with your clients is a MAJOR KEY to any online success. To prevent emails being lost of being sent to junk mail folders, using a ticket system is the best solution.
And you can install it on your current server in its own directory like: http://www.yourwebsite.com/helpdesk
Like with a Wordpress Blog, if you currently have your site hosted on HostGator, you can install eTicket with a simple few clicks using their Fantasico Delux script. It works the same way, you just choose the eTicket option on the left column (and you will be given the option to create this in a sub-directory, such as "/helpdesk" if you like).
