Detailed Aweber Review
I'll be honest that I am not an active Aweber user, but I have used their service briefly in the past for other client and to be honest, it is pretty much the same as GetResponse. The functionality is nearly identical , I find GetResponse to be a little bit easier to manage and browse, but I think that it is personal preference and opinion, not a fact.
There are a couple of things to point out, though. First, which is a good thing for Aweber, I notice that many of the "online gurus" use this service for their own autoresponder system. This includes heavy hitters like Frank Kern, Ed Dale, Ray Edwards and many others. Mike Filsaime not only uses Aweber, but he uses and sells a rebranded version of Aweber called Prosender (Yes, they are one and the same!) This bodes well for reliability and confidence.
Does this mean that Aweber has better delivery rates than GetResponse? Not necessarily. If you look around the forums, people will argue this fact back and forth.
Getresponse also offers a few other features like custom domains and link building services. I am not too keen on the link building service and the custom domains are nice (and can help delivery rates!), but it seems to be rarely used by most users.
Finally, the price...Aweber is a little bit more expensive. Not much, it is a couple of bucks more per month. Personally, I would not let the price sway your decision on this.
When it gets down to it, it comes down to more of a Coke Versus Pepsi choice. Both offer a free trial and you may want to spend a little time just playing with the two interfaces to see which one you like better. I choose Getresponse (and Coke, for that matter!). But I do not think you will go wrong with Aweber.
I DO believe, however, that using one of these two services is essential for any online business. As a beginner, these would be my recommendations and as you grow and want your business to become more customizable, you may find yourself turning to other autoresponder services like MailLoop, AutoResponsePlus and possibly even your own integrated shopping cart solution like 1AutomationWiz (which incorporates an excellent Autoresponder service within).
