If you’re trying to make money online, you need to do a lot of things to rank well in the search engines, especially if you’re in a competitive niche.
Not long ago, webmasters simply stuffed a lot of seemingly relevant keywords into their website hoping that search engines would take notice and send them any traffic that looked in the search engines for those keywords. SEO is more advanced than that and if your website content isn’t high quality, it doesn’t matter how much you traffic receive because the chances of visitors actually buying something from you will be slim to none.
Here are some tips to help you:
• Ensure that you use laterally related words. Don’t just pick a single keyword to focus on. Choose some primary and secondary keywords and sprinkle them throughout your text. Search engines look at latent semantic indexing as one of the ways to determine how to rank your site.
• Put a site map on your website. Search engine robots look to be able to clearly and easily navigate through your website and a site map can help them to do that and quickly index each page of your website.
• Use keywords in the beginning and end of your text and put keyword or related keyword phrases in the title and in subheadings as well.
• Label subheadings as h2 in your html.
• Fill out all the relevant tags on your site. This includes: title tag, meta description, and keyword tags.
• Add image tags to your site as well and be sure to name those images with relevant keywords as search engines cannot read images.
• Link to authority sites on your niche (sites that are established and respected in your topic)
Paying attention to multiple components of SEO will help you considerably in your quest to get found via search engines. Beyond doing SEO on the actual site, it’s also a good idea to focus off the site as well with sites that can point to your website.
Good examples of off site optimization include: social bookmarking, creating websites and blogs that point to your main website, writing press releases with links back to your site, as well as article directory articles with links back to your site and commenting on blogs that will let you link back to your own site from the blog as well.
