Detailed 1ShoppingCart Review
At the beginning, I tried to do it all myself.
When selling items online (whether they are physical products or even information products), you reach the technological challenge at some point on how you are going to create your shopping cart, manage your orders and manage your client base.
At the beginning, I did it wrong.
I tried to do it myself and save a buck. I coded the shopping cart myself (for my information product, it was pretty trivial). I set up my Gateway to send me orders and receipts. I used my GetResponse autoresponder to manage the clients. I even paid about $100 for a PHP pre-build affiliate marketing system.
At the beginning, it all worked!
When all was said and done, everything that I created worked! Orders got placed. Receipts were sent. Client data was stored. Affiliates were make commissions.
Then, it fell apart.
The problem here was a lack of integration and this is a lesson well learned! When climbing a mountain, getting to the top is one thing, but coming back down in another. Orders started coming faster and more frequently. Returns and refunds started to appear. People were returning products and requesting opt-outs of the database. People were earning commissions but I was struggling with the refunds and the payouts.
I spent so much time managing this stuff that at the end of the day, my profits were nowhere to be seen, customer complaints were high and affiliates were mad.
I had heard about 1ShoppingCart as a StomperNet member and when it came to the breaking point, I went to them first. I gave the 30-day free trial a shot and after those 30 days, I wondered why I did not do this from the beginning.
My problem was management and this solved everything in a simple, browser-based solution.
Others may be fighting the technical issues such as the integration, but again, 1ShoppingCart (also rebranded as 1AutomationWiz) makes setting up your products and integrating them into your website a snap.
1ShoppingCart does provide an easy to manage (and highly advanced) recurring purchase processor, but I wish this recurring processor integrated with PayPal, too (for one-time buys, like physical products and eBooks, PayPal works great with 1ShoppingCart!). I also wish they had an API interface for more advanced integration into my site. Both of these (they tell me) are being developed now and hopefully available in the near future.
